Reload Yatzy 1.0

What is this game?
-----------------------
Reload Yatzy is a classic single-player Yatzy game, inspired by vintage handheld Yatzy games and some more modern mobile versions. I wanted to create a version that captures the feel of those handheld games I enjoyed playing in the '90s. This game was made with Qb64.
At the time, I had the urge to code something but didn’t want to take on a project with too large a scope. A Yatzy game seemed like the perfect choice to both refresh my coding skills and keep the project manageable. I also took the opportunity to create all the game's artwork myself, even though my art skills are still a work in progress. This project has given me a chance to improve both my coding and artistic abilities.
How to Play?
----------------
The goal of the game is to score as many points as possible and try to beat your previous high score. The rules follow traditional Yatzy gameplay.
Rolling the Dice:
- You start each round by rolling 5 dice.
- After the first roll, you can choose to hold any number of dice and re-roll the others.
- You can roll the dice up to two more times, for a total of 3 rolls per round.
Scoring:
The aim is to form specific combinations with the dice to score points. The possible combinations are:
- Numbers (Ones, Twos, Threes, Fours, Fives, Sixes):
Example: If you roll 1-2-2-5-2, you have 3 twos, which would score 6 points if assigned to the "Twos" category.
- Three of a Kind:
Example: If you roll 6-2-5-5-5, you have three fives, which would score 15 points if assigned to "Three of a Kind."
- Four of a Kind:
Example: If you roll 6-6-1-6-6, you have four sixes, which would score 24 points if assigned to "Four of a Kind."
- Full House:
A Full House is a combination of Three of a Kind and a Pair. Example: If you roll 1-2-2-1-2, you have a pair of ones and three twos. You score the total sum of all the dice (in this case, 8 points).
Note: Some Yatzy versions use fixed points for Full House, but in this version, you score the sum of the dice.
- Small Straight:
A Small Straight is a sequence of four consecutive numbers. Example: 1-4-2-2-3 forms the sequence 1, 2, 3, 4, which scores a fixed 30 points.
- Large Straight:
A Large Straight is a sequence of five consecutive numbers. Example: 2-3-6-4-5 forms the sequence 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, which scores a fixed 40 points.
- Chance:
Any combination of dice can be assigned to "Chance." You score the sum of all the dice. Example: 4-4-3-6-1 scores 18 points (4 + 4 + 3 + 6 + 1 = 18).
- Yatzy:
Yatzy occurs when all five dice show the same number. Example: 6-6-6-6-6 would score fixed 50 points for the first Yatzy. Each additional Yatzy scores an extra 100 points.
Bonus:
If the total sum of your scores in the "Numbers" categories (Ones, Twos, etc.) reaches 63 or more, you receive a bonus of 35 points.
Game End
Each category can only be scored once, except for Yatzy, which allows for additional points. The game ends when all categories have been assigned a score, and your final score is calculated.
Save game
The game saves your high score. If you want to reset your high score, delete the file called hs.dat located in the assets/others folder.
Good luck and enjoy playing Yatzy!
